Both my mother and father were creators as I was growing up. They were molding and painting plaster plaque designs. I still have one of their plaster plaques hanging in my bathroom. They also made macrame hanging baskets for plants. Those were a huge hit in the 70's. While those have been making a big comeback now, my creative gene took on a different path. I do like playing around with macrame too but my true love for creating is with jewelry. My father created word working pieces even to just before passing away in 2021. He made very unique and intricate pieces from wood with a scroll saw.
My mother passed away when I was 26. She was only 47 years old. Her death was a huge loss and major impact on my life (and everyone else in our family). I did some major sole searching for many years. My life evolved in many ways since she passed over 20 years ago. I have found peace in creating jewelry. It is my creating gene inhereted my borh my parents. I think my mother would adore many of the pieces I create. She admired many of the styles I try to incorporate into my pieces.
As for my jewelry, I am the designer, creator and curator of CJC Custom Jewels. I create special and unique designs. They are all handcrafted by me. CJC Custom Jewels are meant to stand the test of time and each piece hopes to bring joy to the owner. I create each piece with the idea in mind that it will become not only a conversation piece, but also a new family heirloom to pass down from generation to generation. With great attention to detail, each piece is made with the customer in mind. I take great pride with each design. Many pieces are one-of-a-kind pieces.
I am inspired by the world around me and all the colors of nature. I try to incorporate natural colors as often as possible into my designs. I use metals such as copper, bronze, brass, stainless steel, Sterling silver, and gold & silver plated wire to create my designs. I use many types of beads to create designs or whatever inspires me or catches my eye; from glass and Czech beads to even wooden beads or pearls
I truly love making bracelets, necklaces, earrings and rings. It is creating those pieces that bring me so much joy. Seeing the final piece is truly satisfying. The ability to see someone wear my piece is even more gratifying.
